Summer Fishing Report Corrected

Shoshone Big Horn North Platte Green Wind

By Dan Pass - July 24, 2022

Sorry for a second email, we had reports of the file not opening.

Time flies when you are having fun, hope this finds you with hands full of fish!

Quick report here:

The wait is over, the North Fork of the Shoshone is open and on fire!  The river closes annually for the spawn runs from April 1st to June 30th.  The water finally has lowered, cleared and the hatches are on.  Right now, is the time to get on the Shoshone, call us if you're interested.

The Big Horn is starting to moss up, fishing is still good using crawdads and various other stuff.   We are waiting for the Trico’s patiently! Early morning and late evening floats have been keeping us out of the heat, but it should cool down a little bit this week.

Green - This is a great place to go in the summer to camp, have some space to fish.  We only guide on the Fontenelle footprint, but if you are interested in upper green floats, we can recommend some of our fellow shops. Fishing is like Big Horn below Fontenelle, good evening and morning dry fly, but warm in the day and mossy.

North Platte - Grey Reef had a rise to the river Miracle Mile went down, irrigation plays a big part in this river system. Saratoga area is started to lower, but happy to get this recent rain to help the river keep up. Normal flies, we can help dial you in if needed.

Big Horn mountains - The summer hatches are on, and the lakes and creeks are fishing great.

The Wind has lowered and cleared; we have a few days/weeks left we can float the upper stretches. This is a real treat.

Wind Below Boysen - Summer moss has grown and keeps the fish safe, a great place to stay for a night on your way around

Popo Agie - the water has lowered and it's now quite fishable and will get better.

To celebrate our newly acquired Big Horn National Forest permit we are offering a special deal for the first 5 respondents for trips used by end of August - purchase 1 full day float trip and get a 1/2 day walk wade in the Big Horn National Forest FREE!  Watch our monthly specials for more deals to come!

Thanks all, tight lines!
