Big Horn River Water Flow and Fishing Report

October 27th 2020

By Dan Pass - October 27, 2020

Hi again!

Let's all vote and then come to Thermopolis, WY to celebrate!  Couple things to start....the current flow out of Boysen is 565cfs, yep...565cfs.  It's been yeeeears since we've seen the river this low.  There's good and bad...good news is that the river is wadable more than it normally is and fish are pooled up in deep holes or slower water.  The bad news, moss!  We are seeing good midge activity in the morning, still seeing BWO in the early afternoon.  The caddis & hopper activity has all but died off for the year, but streamer fishing has been really good.  Browns are starting to get aggressive and move around, please be careful to not walk on Redd's or fish to fish that are actively spawing or on redds.  As we've always said as tempting as it is, if everyone fished to the fish they saw spawning, the fish don't spawn effectively, could die of stress and it would mean less fish in years to come.  We've got a new shipment of flies in and are starting to offer our "winter rate" of $400 for a full day float as of 11-1-2020.  Please give us a call, stop by the store or stay with us at the motel...307-864-3499
